THE EUROPEAN REQUIREMENT
A presence in the EU. A partner you can trust.
Since July 2021, many products covered by EU harmonisation legislation may only be placed on the EU market if an economic operator established in the EU is responsible for them (Article 4, Regulation (EU) 2019/1020). Since December 2024, the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 requires such a responsible person for consumer products as well. Without one, goods can be stopped at customs or removed from marketplaces.

What is an EU economic operator / responsible person?
Under Article 4 of Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 and the GPSR (EU) 2023/988, a person or company established in the EU that keeps documentation available, answers authorities and cooperates on corrective actions.
Which products need one?
Many products under EU harmonisation legislation, e.g. machinery, electrical and radio equipment, toys, personal protective equipment, and consumer products under the GPSR, when sold by a manufacturer outside the EU.
Why Cyprus?
An EU member state where English is widely used in business, with a 15% corporate tax rate since 2026, and a good base for later final assembly in the EU.
